2018 Municipal Elections
The Clerk is responsible for conducting municipal elections. The current term of office for Council is December 1st, 2014 to November 30th, 2018. The next regular Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018.
NOTICE OF NOMINATION FOR OFFICE
Nominations for the positions listed below must be made on the prescribed form available at the municipal Clerk’s Office. Nomination papers must be filed, either in person or by your agent, with the Returning Officer at the municipal office during normal office hours between the first business day of May in 2018 to Thursday, July 26, 2018 and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 (Nomination Day).

Nominations for the 2018 municipal elections may be filed at the Clerk’s office during regular office hours beginning May 1, 2018.
Nomination Day is Friday, July 27, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Clerk’s office.
ELECTION CAMPAIGN PERIOD
Election campaign period begins on the day a nomination for office is filed with the Clerk and ends on December 31, 2018.
The Municipal Council for our municipality is composed of the following:
- Mayor – one to be elected at large.
- Councilors – four to be elected at large.
To vote in the municipal election, you must be a qualified elector. On voting day you must be:
- a resident of the Township of Nairn and Hyman, or an owner or tenant of land in the municipality, or the spouse of such an owner or tenant.
- a Canadian citizen.
- at least 18 years old; and
- not prohibited from voting by law.
